Developing Leader All Star Honoree Profile - Dylan Brown, Colliers
Name/Title/Company: Dylan Brown / Real Estate Advisor / Colliers
Briefly tell us what you do, and length of time in the CRE industry: Industrial Broker for Colliers, 2 years.
Number of Years in NAIOP Wisconsin?: 1 year.
What project or professional or personal accomplishment are you most proud of?: One of my proudest professional achievements was completing one of my first deals, where I helped a first-generation immigrant from China launch a distribution business. With little knowledge of the real estate market, he relied on me to guide him through commercial leasing and property selection. After understanding his needs and long-term goals, I secured a building at a below-market rate, keeping his startup costs manageable. To address language barriers, I found a Mandarin-speaking attorney to ensure he fully understood the lease terms. Successfully navigating these challenges and helping him pursue the American dream was incredibly rewarding and reaffirmed my passion for supporting others through real estate.
Where did you grow up, go to high school or college?: I'm a Wisconsin boy through and through. I grew up in Wauwatosa and went to Wauwatosa East. Upon graduation, I attended UW-Madison where I studied finance and real estate in the business school.
Who introduced you to NAIOP Wisconsin and how has the DL All Star program contributed to your success in the industry as a young professional?: My co-workers at Colliers introduced me to the DL All Star program. The All Star program has been instrumental in accelerating my success as a young broker. In an industry where connections are vital, the program excels at creating opportunities to build relationships. It has significantly expanded my network, particularly with peers who will shape the future of Wisconsin's real estate industry.
What advice would you give today, to you five years ago?: Make sure that bat doesn't escape in Wuhan. Five years ago, I was a college freshman. If I could go back, I would make sure to do more networking. Having a strong network is such a good indicator of success. There is no such thing as too much networking.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?: I see our team (Jim Larkin, Kyle Fink, and me) as the top industrial team in Wisconsin.
What is one thing about you most people don't know?: Snoop Dogg follows me on Instagram.
Favorite vacation spot?: Italy.
